October is the month for the true horror gourmet. In celebration of All Hallows Eve—and all things terrifying—Gourmet Horror is presenting a different short horror film for each day of the month. Make yourself a tasty snack, draw the blinds, turn out all the lights…and watch, if you dare.
Fresh from a successful 12-month run around the festival circuit, today’s selection, Skypemare, has been released “into the wild” just in time for Halloween. And it’s a good one, buoyed by a killer premise: Two young women are chatting on Skype with each other, when one friend spots the silhouette of a menacing stranger lurking behind the other. Things rapidly devolve from there, with a twist at the end that’ll tickle your terror bone. Directed with focus and precision by John Fitzpatrick, beautifully shot by cinematographer Nicholas Kaat, and ably acted by its two lovely leads, Cerina Vincent and Annika Marks. RUNTIME: 7:12
